The GDPR is here

A new law that protects users’ data called EU General Data Protection Regulation (also known as GDPR) came to effect on May 25, 2018.

At Desygner, our users and their content are more important to us than anything else. We’ve always been committed to protecting your data and offering features that give you control over your information. The GDPR is just one more opportunity for us to further improve on that.

So, what changes has Desygner made?

Features Updates – Available on the 28th of May

  • No more upgrade path from content privacy: Desygner has millions of free users and tens of thousands that pay us. When we started monetising our services, we trialled different upgrade points, including privacy changes on projects. We have now made this feature free to all users so that you can always make the content you create with Desygner private, no matter if you pay us or not.
  • Profiles are private by default: You always had the option to change your profile to private, but we are now making all new profiles private by default. As many Desygner users use their profile as a way to drive traffic to their website, we will not make changes to existing profiles. The option to change your profile to private is available in your account settings and can be used at any time.
  • You can completely delete your account: We wouldn’t like to see you go, but if you decide to, we allow you to fully delete your account without having to contact us. We included a delete account button under your settings that will remove all your data within 72 hours. PS: You can always register back with us, but you will not be able to recover your information.
  • Updated Sign-Up process: We made even simpler for users to understand their opt-in options. All existing users can always withdraw consent from their account settings or by clicking on “unsubscribe” from any non-contractual email they receive from us.

Features we are working on

  • A Privacy Help Section: We will be adding a help area with information that makes it even easier for you to manage your account privacy.
  • Export content as CSV: Currently, all content you create using our products can already be exported as JPEG, PNG or PDFs. We will be rolling out a new “Download My Data” button that will provide you with a CSV file with all other account information. In the meantime, this can be made available by our team upon request.

Privacy & Terms Updates

  • Simpler navigation: We added links to the top of each page to allow you to access the information that matters to you the most.
  • User-friendly language: We made our legal documents easier to understand by using clear language and clarifying different scenarios with practical examples.
  • How you can control your information: We explain how you can control your information, opt out, exercise the right to be forgotten, and extract your information should you choose to leave Desygner.
  • GDPR specific information: We have added sections to cover GDPR requirements including the legal basis for processing data.

For business users on

  • Using our products on behalf of an organisation: Many users access our services through their organizations (e.g., their employers, stores, suppliers or clients), who control their accounts or use of our services. The updated policy includes a “Notice to End User” which clarifies our relationship to these users and explains the features available to administrators of these users.
  • Data processing agreement: If you require a Data Processing Agreement (DPA), ours is available to account administrators who can modify company information under Settings > Company Info. If you have any questions, please contact us at

Happy GDPR 🙂
